Porsche 996 3.4L C2, C4 (1998-2001) & Porsche 986 3.6L C2, C4, C4S (2002-2005) dual mass flywheel. Manufactured by LuK. It is recommended that these are changed whilst the clutch is being replaced. There should be no extra work or labour charges incurred as once the clutch is removed, it is only another 8 bolts that have to be undone to remove and replace the flywheel. The dual mass flywheel on the Boxster is prone to failure. It is not a quirk of the Porsche design, it is simply a fact that all dual mass flywheels fitted on all vehicles now require, at the very minimum, a thorough inspection when the clutch is being exchanged. At the very worst case, a replacement will be required. If it fails, the flywheel can go out of balance which can lead to terminal damage to the crankshaft and engine. The cost of a new dual mass flywheel will always be cheaper than an engine rebuild. Consider investing in a new dual mass flywheel when the clutch is being exchanged and you will be investing in some peace of mind.

sent wrong oil filter(diameter of hole smaller ) not for 986 2.7 had to re-use old one because car in situ.
Thanks for taking my phone call this afternoon regarding this and then subsequently confirming that a Mahle branded oil filter with part number OX128/1D was supplied.
I can confirm that this is indeed the correct oil filter for all models of 986 Boxster 2.7L engine. (In fact it's compatible with all models of 986 Boxster.)
