Designed to be suitable for all types of Porsche 12v car battery, this CTEK MXS 5.0 trickle charger with automatic temperature compensation will optimize it's charge so that your battery is always fully charged when you need it.

This charger is compatible will all models of Porsche 911, 924, 928, 944, 968, 964, 993, 986, 987, Boxster, Cayman, 996, 997 & Cayenne.

Also included is the cigar lighter adapter plug to make it even easier to charge your Porsche battery. Just simply plug the CTEK charger via the adapter into the cigar lighter socket and let the charger take-over. You don't even need to get your hands dirty, or for that matter, even need to know where the battery is located!

The MXS 5.0 is a proven and reliable charger. It offers important features such as desulphation and maintenance charging irrespective of it's operating temperature. It provides the same optimised charge on a hot summer day and also on a cold winter day. There's no need to change any of the charger settings, it does it all automatically.
It is the ideal charger for those looking for quality and simple connect and forget charging. The MXS 5.0 is a fully automatic 8-step charger that charges 12V batteries from 1.2-110 Ah and is suitable for maintenance charging up to 160Ah. The MXS 5.0 is IP 65 classified (splash and dust proof) and delivers a maximum charge current of 5.0A.

It is designed to protect vehicle electronics, in particular the Porsche audio equipment and is non-sparking, reverse polarity protected and short-circuit proof.

This is the direct replacement charger for the soon to be obsolete Porsche Charge-o-mat battery charger that the main dealer currently sells. The current Porsche Charge-o-mat charger is based off the old CTEK MXS 3.6 charger. CTEK ceased production of this MXS 3.6 model in 2013.

My 2018 Cayenne was spending lond spells not used and noticed as expected battery was loosing charge.
So i bought the porsche trickle charger i began by charging via engine bay connections to battery using croc clips but found the bonnet strut when closing the bonnet was fouling the earth terminal. This made it fiddly as i had to clip croc clip facing down below the engine bay cover nevertheless it did the job and fully reconditioned the battery .
I discussed this with technical support (Maz) who was very helpfull he explained croc clips not ideal for my applicationand spring tension would probably decline with use and gave me a couple of alternative options.
Adapt the teminal washer type terminals and or charge using in car socket.
Ive done both removed earth terminal and tapped end M8 to match thread on positive terminal and converted the washer terminal to open end so i can slide under the new M8 bolts works fine no fouling of strut.
I did this initially because i was told the Cayenne software isolates the 12v sockets when ignition is turned off unless a power source is dereected within 1-1.5mins!!
This was the next thing i tried connected up cigar lighter from charger power off .
Turned on car ignition then back off .
Switched on charger hey presto charger up and running in car so in reallity i should of tried this first but never ming i have two options now thanks for all of your support great to be able to talk to someone these days especially having knowledge of the product they are selling.

Brilliant Product

Keeps battery topped up when car has little use in winter - just plug into cigarette lighter socket - so no messing removing panels under bonnet - so when you want to drive car it takes less than a minute to unplug and away you go
