Ok, it’s a bit complicated because an old Audi A4 has really played up these last few months - had an auto electrician in, control modules replaced, new battery etc. So, bought this as my other charger is an elderly Halfords model, still serviceable but a bit clunky and showing its age.
Tried the 12v adaptor that came with the kit. No response. Tried charging with the regular leads. All looks ok, then error message after attempting charge overnight and we’re stuck at stage 2 on the charging cycle. Unplug and start again. Go straight to stage 2, no error but refuses to budge further. Manual suggests battery may be the problem. I can’t exclude that but it was a brand new high end battery 4 months ago. After attempting charging for over 18 hrs I gave up. Unit pretty hot by now but no error message. Voltmeter on battery just over 2v so no charging has happened.
Swapped to ancient Halfords unit which appears to be getting on with the job. Green charging light and a comforting humming noise.
So I just don’t know. Is it the unit, is it the battery. But it certainly isn’t job done. Shame, because it’s so much sleeker and convenient than elderly Mr Halfords. And if it had worked I’d have been delighted with it and this would be a five star review. But at the moment not even close.
