Boxster, Cayman, 986, 987, 996, 997 oil filter housing removal tool. Compatible with all engines that appear in these vehicles.

Complete with
- a 27mm nut (suitable for a socket or spanner) for removing a "tight" oil filter housing and also for "torquing" up during filter housing reinstallation
- a castellated top making it very easy to refit the oil filter housing using only your hands (especially when your hands are oily/greasy).

The filter housing should only be tightened to 25Nm. Tighten "hand tight" first, then double check with a torque wrench.

A mandatory tool for anybody wanting to change the oil or service their Porsche

Note, traditional forms of oil filter strap wrench are not recommended for removing the plastic oil filter housing as these have a tendency to crush, damage and even crack the housings. Furthermore, the final installation torque can not be checked using a strap or chain wrench.

Filter removal tool(986)

A very robust tool, perfect fit, if a little tight fitting once in position but this ensures no slack when turning ensuring no damage to the filter housing. Well worth having as part of your service kit and a very reasonable price.

Sticky

Works OK but a slightly loose fit to the canister means the tool moves a bit and sticks on and has to be levered off. I am using OEM cannister and filter combo too.
