It is not uncommon for Porsche wheel bearings to become worn and wear out. They are located in each of the wheel hubs and as such, their operating environment is very wet leading to rust and over time the dilution of the grease within the bearings. The lifetime of a bearing is such that it is a serviceable item and they will at the very least, need a regular inspection. Some play and movement over time is to become expected, but, if your Porsche front and rear wheel bearings become noisy (where the noise gets louder with speed), rumble, drone or have excessive play in them, then they must be removed, exchanged and replaced.
The rate of bearing wear can also be accelerated when retro-fitting wider wheel, especially if wheel spacers are used to realign the wheel offsets. Interestingly there are also some theories that regular pressure washing of the wheels with detergents whilst in situ can lead to the grease being driven out of the bearing, again accelerating the rate of wear.
